Fayette County boasts 720 square miles of beautiful Iowa landscape. Our beautiful county has something for everyone including the Volga Lake Recreation Area which is one of the state's largest recreation areas. The town of Clermont offers tours of Montauk, Governor Larrabee's home, which was was built in the 1800's, and home of the largest Kimball pipe organ in the country where they hold concerts the last Sunday each month from April to October, excluding May.

Our county also offers numerous museums to visit including the Hub City Railroad Museum in Oelwein, the Hurd Museum in Hawkeye and the Historical Center in West Union. Other sites to see are many unique cemeteries, bridges, churches (the Episcopal Church in Clermont is currently being refurbished), statues, country school houses, barns, barn quilts, "Stone Man", Dutton's Cave, parks, trails, Upper Iowa University, farmers markets offering locally grown products, nature centers, a corn maze, Heritage Farm Park, two performing arts center (The Williams Center for the Arts and the North Fayette Performing Arts Center), stock car races April through September and much, much, more!!
