Organ Concert at Union Sunday School

The arrival of summer brings the 37th Annual Organ Recital Series to Clermont beginning this month with a "Musical Journey" program presented by Sally Boie of Hawkeye.  Boie will be joined  by Glen Boie, Bonnie Loomis and Ruth Schlatter as  they kick off the 2017 Organ Recital Series at 2:30 p.m.  Sunday, June 25, at Union Sunday School in Clermont.

Admission to the series is free, and the concerts are open to the public.

Lima Church Celebrates 135 year

Lima Church in rural Fayette will celebrate its 135th year from  1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 2, on the church grounds.   In addition to the "Lima Leaf Day" quilt show the Church will also feature an antique tractor and classic car show.  An ice-cream social, complete with homemade pie, cookies and bars, will take place so bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the day at the Lima Church celebration.

Elgin Named a Top River Town

Elgin was named a Top Three finalist for 2017 River Town of the Year by the nonprofit group Iowa River Revival. Elgin is a member of the Turkey River Recreation Cooridor, which was the first river region to be designated an Iowa Great Place; the River Bluffs Scenic Byway; and the Turkey River Water Trail. There are numerous land trails around Elgin, plus the expansion of the Elgin-to-Gilbertson Park Trail project. Also, Elgin is a member of the Turkey River Watershed Management Authority, which is focused on flood prevention and water quality.
