One might say that Fayette is best known for a question asked on the game show "Jeopardy": The smallest town in the USA with a university, but without a high school...Fayette is a beautiful town with many recreational activities in which to participate.
The Volga River winds its way through town, creating a picturesque landscape. Only about 3 miles north of Fayette is the Volga River Recreation Area, which is a state park that offers horseback riding, camping, snow mobiling and cross country skiing, just to mention a few things. A walking/biking trail will soon be completed and will provide 2.7 miles of easy to travel paths.
Watermelon Days is held every August in Fayette. Come join in the fun and have some free all-you-can-eat watermelon.
